Suggested Summer Reading List for Entering Kindergarten

Kindergarten teachers recommend that families go to libraries in the community and check out lots of books with your children. Children enter kindergarten with many levels of pre-reading skills. The following books are suggestions to read to and with your child:

If your child is reading independently, have her/him read for approximately 20 minutes, or try a happy combination of both. Series books are favorites with children at this age. Biography – story of a real person’s life written by another person:
